About Me

My name is Darlene and I have been teaching for thirteen years. I began my career in upper elementary and loved teaching 5th grade for 10 years. Three years ago I decided that I needed a change and decided to apply for Special Education positions in my county. In the fall of 2012 I started teaching high school special education students in a self contained setting. Wow! Definitely a change...my students have a variety of delays and many of them will "age out" at age 21. For the past 2 years I have also co-taught in inclusion classrooms and love all aspects of my position (even the paperwork!)

I am passionate about my job and believe that all students deserve a chance no matter how delayed they might be. I am their biggest fan and possibly their biggest advocate :)
